Garage Cleanout

When the garage has gone past clutter and needs to be emptied out and started over, Kyle clears it, sorts it, and hauls away what goes, himself. He wants the garage to look exceptional when he's done, not just less full.

A garage cleanout clears everything out of an overloaded garage and sorts it into keep, donate, and haul, starting from empty instead of building storage around what is already there. Owner Kyle Colgan empties the space, runs the sort, and takes the haul load away himself, one visit, one truck, so the garage comes back ready to use.

When a garage needs a cleanout, not just organizing

Some garages need shelving and zones added to what is already a manageable space. Others have gotten past that point: boxes stacked to the rafters, a car that has not fit inside in years, and no clear sense of what is even under the pile closest to the door. A garage cleanout starts from that harder spot.

Instead of building storage around what is there, Kyle clears the garage out first, decides with you what stays, what gets donated, and what gets hauled, and only then puts the keep pile back in.

That order matters because a garage this full cannot be organized in place. Everything has to come out, or at least out far enough to be seen and handled, before zones and storage make sense. Kyle works through the space methodically: tools in one grouping, yard and lawn equipment in another, sports gear and seasonal items sorted by what actually gets used.

Anything broken, outdated, or simply no longer wanted goes in the haul pile. What survives the sort goes back in with real storage behind it: the things you reach for often placed where grabbing them moves nothing else, the once-a-year bins up high and tagged, and the floor left open for the car and the genuinely heavy stuff, all of it labeled so nothing disappears into a corner again.

Down here the garage carries extra weight: with no basement, it is the only real storage room most Palm Coast houses have. The coastal humidity is hard on cardboard and paper, so Kyle steers what he can toward bins instead of boxes when he puts the keep pile back.

What comes out on the same visit

The point of a cleanout is that the garage does not sit half-emptied. The donate pile and the haul pile leave on Kyle's truck the same day he clears the space, so the job finishes when he pulls out of the driveway. That combination, clearing the garage and finishing it in one visit, is the same sort, organize, and haul method Kyle uses on every job, applied to a garage that started too full to organize any other way.

What a garage cleanout does not include

One person and one truck do the whole thing: the clear-out, the sort, and the haul-away. Demolition or structural work on the garage itself, dumpster rental, and hazardous materials (old paint, chemicals, or appliances that still hold refrigerant) sit outside that scope: refrigerant-bearing appliances specifically need a certified technician to recover the refrigerant before disposal, a federal requirement, not a preference.

Frequently asked questions

How is a garage cleanout different from garage organizing?

Garage organizing builds zones and storage around a space that is still workable. A garage cleanout starts from a garage that is too full to organize in place: everything comes out, gets sorted into keep, donate, and haul, and only the keep pile goes back in with real storage behind it. Many garages need the cleanout first and the organizing second, in the same visit.

Do the donate and haul piles leave the same day?

Yes. Sorted with Kyle sorts, organizes, and hauls in one visit with one truck. Whatever the family decides to donate or throw out gets loaded onto Kyle's truck before he leaves, so the garage is finished, floor to ceiling, by the time he pulls out of the driveway.

Will my car actually fit in the garage afterward?

That is what the walkthrough pins down before any work starts: where the car will go, and where everything staying will live. Because everything comes out before anything goes back, the keep pile is placed with the parking space accounted for first instead of squeezed in around what never left.

Which items can't leave on the truck?

Demolition or structural work, dumpster rental, and hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals, or appliances that still hold refrigerant sit outside a garage cleanout with Sorted with Kyle. Refrigerant recovery specifically requires a certified technician under federal rules, so those appliances need their own proper disposal route rather than a spot on the truck.
