House Cleanout

A house that has to be emptied, before a sale or for any other reason, gets there room by room: sorted with you into keep, donate, and haul, with a truck that leaves loaded at the end of each visit.

Call or text

A house cleanout empties an entire house, not just one room, sorting every space with you into keep, donate, and haul until the whole place is done. It goes room by room, and each visit ends with that day's haul on the truck, so no room is left half-finished.

What a house cleanout covers

A house cleanout is the whole-house version of the same sort and haul used on a single garage or closet, applied room by room until the house is empty.

It fits a house that is being emptied out, however full it has gotten, as long as what fills it is ordinary household contents. Rooms that have not been fully used in years, and furniture and belongings stacked past the point of a weekend project, are all part of the job.

None of that changes the method. Every room still gets sorted with you into keep, donate, and haul. What you keep gets grouped so it is ready to go with you. What is going gets loaded onto the truck at the end of each visit.

The difference from a single-room job is scale and sequencing, not a different process. The house is worked room by room, each one sorted before the next one starts, so the house does not end up with several rooms half-touched.

A house that has filled up over years often has rooms that are hard to move through. That is the kind of job a house cleanout is built for, handled the same patient way as any other room: sorted first, judged room by room, never rushed past.

When a house cleanout fits, versus a smaller job

A house cleanout is the right call when the whole house is being emptied, such as before a sale. If you are staying in the house and it needs putting back in order, that is a whole-home reset. If only a garage or a single closet needs the work, that is its own smaller job. If the house is being cleared after a death in the family or a move to assisted living, that is an estate cleanout, paced for what the family can handle.

What a house cleanout does not include

Heavy clutter is fine as long as it is ordinary household contents, and the scope stays plain: sorting, organizing, and haul-away, one person, one truck.

Outside that scope:

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a house cleanout instead of regular organizing?

A house cleanout is for a house being emptied out, such as before a sale. Organizing is for a house you are staying in; a whole-home reset covers that, room by room. The keep, donate, and haul sorting is the same either way. If one room or a garage is the actual scope, that is its own smaller job.

Do you sort the house, or just haul things out?

Both, and in that order. Each room is sorted with you into keep, donate, and haul. What you keep gets grouped so it is ready to go with you, and the donate and haul piles are loaded on the truck. Whether that takes one visit or several, each visit ends with that day's donate and haul piles on the truck, and by the last one every room has been decided, not just emptied.

Can you take on a house that has gotten really cluttered?

Yes, as long as it is ordinary household contents and within what one person with one truck can do. The sort goes room by room at whatever pace the house needs. A certified hoarding-remediation or biohazard situation is the exception; that calls for a specialist trained to handle it safely.

How is this different from an estate cleanout?

A house cleanout is for any house being emptied out, such as before a sale. An estate cleanout is the same job after a death in the family or a move to assisted living, paced for what the family can handle. Both use the same keep, donate, and haul sorting.
